TAKING MUSIC TO A NEW LEVEL
Music Producer Duo – Spuds on WMW Session: Indonesia
Last Sunday saw Wired Music Week’s debut in Jakarta, Indonesia. As the brand expands itself, a team of music producers who have been active in the scene also makes an optimistic appearance, hosting their masterclasses with WMW Session’s support for the second time now.
Our team managed to get some insights from these two talented individuals on their Wired Music Week journey, WMW Radio, and the future for SPUDS.
…
Q: Your team is no new player at WMW Sessions, comparing your masterclasses held during WMW Session Brunei & WMW Session Indonesia, do you see any differences in the way you present your classes and the method of conveying to crowds whom mother tongue are different than your own?
A: I think overall it’s been an amazing experience, being able to do our part in educating and sharing our experiences with the local communities. For us music is a universal language, so we didn’t really had to do anything differently when it comes to presenting our classes. Also, we were lucky as the crowd we have been interacting with is very proficient in English so that’s awesome for us.

Q: What was your most memorable experience in WMW Session Indonesia?
A: The B2B session with all of the guest artists of course! Also, we are very impressed with the music community in Indonesia, and how passionate they are. It certainly opened our eyes as we weren’t expecting to see such a great crowd attending the classes. Overall a good experience.
Q: Just last year, when WMW first took place in Cyberjaya in May 2018, you attended the conference as ticketed participants. What have you found useful about the event?
A: Everything about it was useful and definitely helped us in our career. The classes were fun and provided us with valuable insights in the industry. Also, the best thing about WMW is the networking opportunities. We met so many individuals that helped us immensely in the growth of our career into the next level. Hence we feel that instead of keeping to yourselves, it is very important for attendees to reach out extensively to others during the event. You never know who you’re gonna meet!
Q: Have you seen your duo team evolved or grown over the past year since joining Wired Music Week?
A: Yes of course! Especially after Wired, we gained enough exposure and contacts that made it possible for us to improve ourselves by leaps and bounds over the course of a year. Wired certainly helped us broaden our views on what we could achieve, and that encourages us to strive hard to reach our goals.

Q: Wired Music Week has recently launched its radio show – WMW Radio on soundcloud. As official hosts, what are your few takeaways and insights about the show, for those who have not tuned in?
A: They are certainly missing out on the latest tracks! For us, we feel that radio stations locally is saturated with the same copy and paste pop songs which they keep playing on a heavy rotation. WMW Radio is different because we play the latest music you wouldn’t usually hear elsewhere. So if you want to keep yourself updated with the latest songs and happenings in the electronic music scene, tune in today! You can find us on our Soundcloud account @wmwradio.
Q: Talk about your recent collaborations and the inspiration behind it.
A: We can’t really divulge details about our upcoming collaborations but what we can tell you is the direction of the new sound we are coming up with is nothing like you’ve ever heard before, especially not from us. We will be dropping more information about our upcoming releases soon so stay tuned!
Q: What do you have to say to those who have not purchased their WMW Passes?
A: We know of a lot of people who wants to attend, but are unsure and still on the fence whether or not to get their WMW passes. Maybe you are waiting for further lineup announcements before making a decision, fair enough, but from our experience, you do not need to attend that one headliner’s class for it to make a difference to your career. The price of the ticket is justified by the amount of industry people who will be present at the event; and also even more ambitious and like-minded individuals looking to jumpstart their dreams. As mentioned earlier, it’s all about making the right connections with the right people on the ground; you won’t know if the most low key individual in the hall that you happen to hang out with will turn out to be the best manager you’ve ever had; driving the hardest bargains for you and your brand.
